Opening the evening will be Tony Bullock and the Red Letter Band, some of our favorite local musicians. Following Tony and the Red Letter Band will be Brian Arnold, a brilliant pianist who has use of only one arm and one leg. The final group for GospelFest 2008 is Chosen Few, a group of men who sing harmony and acapella that will warm your heart and put a smile on your face.
Don't miss Olde Glory Days 2008 GospelFest. It will be a great way to kick off your holiday celebration at the Benson Convention Center, and you will want to hang around for the fireworks after the concert. GospelFest is sponsored by The Meadows, Clinton Quick Lube and New York Life.
The performers include:
Tony Bullock
Local favorite, Tony Bullock, has had the opportunity to share the stage with many other talented artists. As God opens the doors for Tony to sing and share his testimony, he is stepping forward to help others experience that same type of personal relationshiphe has found in his life.
The Red Letter Band
The Red Letter Band has been the mainstay for Friday Night at the Franklin, the musicians' night at the Ben Franklin Coffeehouse. Musically, the band covers a wide range of styles, Irom acoustic country to rock, gospel and jazz. The combination of familiar tunes and new songs done with a variety of vocalists brings a unique feel to their performances. The group consists of local musicians Kevin Griffey, Jerry Helms, Jay Olson, Jeff Goodbrake, Bill McCoy and Steve Martonfi along with some special guests adding to the sound.
We often find life more difficult and frustrating than we sometimes wish, but Brian Arnold's music is a testament to his faith in an unshakable God. At the age of six, Brian lost his left leg in a near-fatal accident. Music was the ideal adventure for a youngster with such a big physical setback. Years later, after receiving a degree in piano and making a career out of music, Brian suffered another giant setback. He lost use of his left arm when he was hit by a semi-truck on his way to a church singing. Today, Brian is an accomplished musician with talent you rarely witness in those who still have use of both arms and legs. His music is a ministry, especially to those who do not believe in the mighty power of God.
There will be something for everyone during the Chosen Few's performance Sunday evening. The group sang for ten years at Silver Dollar City, and they continue to record nationally with Journey Records. Ashley, Scott and Shannon each bring unique vocals to the microphone, and they sing everything from old classics to what you're hearing on the radio today. Between Scott's four-and-a-half octave range, Shannon's heart for people, and Ashley's heartwarming smile and personality, Chosen Few has the ability to uplift the name of Jesus through song and testimony like you have never heard before. You won't want to miss this encouraging group as they minister through music at the GospelFest!
