Henry County Library Receives Unique Photograph

The Henry County Library recently received a very unique photograph taken by former Clinton resident Mr. Bill Gilmore. The title: Sunset in Paris depicts a view of a sunset showing the Seine River and La Conciergerie, a 14th century prison. The tourist boats are very popular in Paris. They travel the Seine River to view the various attractions such as the Eiffel Tower. This wonderful work of photography was donated in memory of Mrs. Jeannette Calvird and can be seen proudly displayed in the library gallery.

Bill Gilmore, Travel Photographer has been to many interesting places such as Europe, South America and various areas in the United States taking unique photographs. His motto is like the verse in the song "Moon River," "I'm a drifter off to see the world . . . there's such a lot of world to see." He has traveled for many years with the philosophy that meeting and engaging with people in their unique part of the world is the true reason for traveling. This is also the basis for his photography. His mission is to share the world via photographs.

Mr. Gilmore is the son of Russell Gilmore Sr. and Hazel Gilmore, brother to Russell Jr. and James Gilmore. Bill grew up in Clinton. He attended Franklin Elementary School and graduated from Clinton High School in 1959. He graduated from Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Missouri; University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia and the University of Virginia. He was employed as a developer of training materials by the Department of the Army at Fort Lee, Virginia. After 32 years, Bill retired and spends his time as photographer traveling the world.
