Fundraising Begins To Equip New Library

Several library patrons met with Sandra Fosnow and Liz Cashell of the Henry County Library on Monday morning, March 31 to discus possible fundraising projects to help finance shelving, equipment, chairs, benches, reading tables, desks, carpeting, and a phone system for the new Lenora Blackmore Extension of the Henry County Library. The new library will be located on Benton Street in Greg Frencken's new building.

Total equipment needs for the 4,000 sq. ft. space will be approximately $75,000. To date, a Cleo Whitworth Memorial and sale of extra books has raised $3,400. The group's goal is to raise $30,000 by September 1.

Fundraising projects discussed include: a Donor's tree, shelf sale, Naming opportunities for stacks and rooms, school organizations fundraisers, Memorials, a Skidmore Foundation Grant, Solicitation letters to community members and WHS Alumni, information in church bulletins, fundraisersers by local organizations and a Celebrity Waiter Banquet and Auction.

The group invites all other library patrons and interested community members to contact Sandra Fosnow, Terri Kline, Karen Bullock, Virginia Hess or Jess Kellock for more information.

Lenora Blackmore Revitalization Fund

Thanks to a generous donation and memorial gifts from the Cleo Whitworth estate, an account has been set up at UMB Bank. Anyone can make contributions to the "Lenora Blackmore Revitalization Fund." Donations of $25 or more are eligible for a receipt and are tax deductible. The money will be used to provide improvements to the facilities of the Lenora Blackmore Branch of the Henry County Library.

Both the Clinton facility and the Windsor facility are participating in the $1 book sale to build up the fund. Be sure to stop by for a visit.

Children's Storytime at the Lenora Blackmore Branch

Children's Storytime is now available at Henry County Library-Lenora Blackmore Branch. Since Wednesday, January 2, 2008, after the Lenora Blackmore Library and the Henry County Library merged, pre-school children in Windsor have the opportunity to participate in Storytime. Children's Specialist, Peggy Kepner travels to Windsor each Wednesday to bring stories, songs, and finger plays to the Children's area of the Library. The fun begins at 11:00 am as the Library opens, so bring your little one and be ready to have a good time. The Library is located at 115 E. Benton in Windsor.
