The group had a discussion on subpoenas and motions to quash. Carl Sandstedt suggested a program from a Prosecuting Attorney on both these issues to determine how they relate to librarians and board service. He also suggested having someone from the FBI to address the Patriot Act.
Carrie Cline reported that Kent Brown told her it was not necessary to print every single check that the library writes in the newspaper.
Announcements: President Betty Martin thanked Carolyn Trout for hosting the meeting in Joplin and thanked Judy Beatty for organizing the programs. Judy presented a gift to the President and thanked her predecessor, Jan Johnson.

She also recommended testing the water if you are flooded.
Annie Busch reported on the arson at her library. The accused arsonist pled not guilty so the case will proceed to court. Annie advised us to make sure our insurance agent has an answering machine, to make sure we know who our adjuster is, and to make sure his phone is active. She advised that we research our restoration people before something like this happens. Have all this information in a file that you keep at home and at the office. She reported that they lost 10,000 books that cannot be repaired. The entire job will cost 600,000. Annie stressed that should this happen to any of us, that we make sure the restoration people have big drying equipment and that they know what they are doing.
