Summer Meeting, December 7, 2007
Resort of Point Arrowhead, Lake of the Ozarks

President Cheryl Lang called the meeting to order at 9:04 at the Resort of Point Arrowhead, Lake Ozark.

David Doening motioned that the June 2007 minutes be approved. Ray Hall seconded. Motion passed: all ayes.

Treasurer Report - Jackie Thomas

• The trend continues: "We made some, we spent some."
• Membership is down this year. We have 52 members compared to 83 last year. The average is 70-80 members. Right now membership is not high enough to pay Kent's expenses.
• The conference made a little. We have to guarantee X number of people to the hotels. With membership being inconsistent, this makes it hard to plan.
• There was discussion on raising the non-member registration rates for the conferences. Right now it's cheaper to not join MPLD and pay the non-member rate to attend conferences.
• David Doening moved that the non-member conference registration fee be 2/3 higher than the membership registration. Liz Cashell seconded. Motion passed: all ayes.

By-Laws - Cheryl Lang

• Due to the vote in June to require dues to be paid by June of each year, the by-laws need to be changed to reflect that change.
• Mary Beth Revels motioned that the By-laws be changed from: Article III, Section 2: "Annual dues may be collected at any time. The annual dues schedule will be determined by the membership." To: Article III, Section 2: "The annual dues schedule will be determined by the membership." Becky Wilcox, seconded. Motion passed: all ayes.

MOREnet Council Representation

• Currently Karen Hicklin and Glenda Hunt are MPLD representatives on the MOREnet Council. An alternate is needed.
• Requirements: 4 meetings per year in Jefferson City and your Library pays all expenses.
• David Doening volunteered.
• Brenda Allie Bates motioned that David Doening be the alternate. Becky Wilcox seconded. Motion passed: all ayes.

Nominating Committee - Steve Campbell & Charles Pace

• Need a committee to put together next year's slate of officers.
• Steve Campbell and Charles Pace were appointed to the committee.

Public Health Care - Liz Cashell

• Liz presented a health care option for libraries. The Missouri Consolidated Public Healthcare Plan is willing to create a sub-group for libraries. Please let Liz Cashell know your thoughts. Liz will put the information on the MPLD listserv for discussion.

2008 Conferences

• Sallie Hancox will host the June meeting somewhere in or near Union, MO.
• Cheryl asked for opinions of the Resort of Point Arrowhead. With many positive comments, Cheryl will see if we can meet here again next December.
