Karen Long is a happy woman who likes to stay busy and use her time wisely. She has found that the Playaway, audio books at the library are perfectly suited for this application. The 3x2 inch battery powered Playaway units, contain an unabridged book. By the use of earphones, Karen has the maneuverability, and entertainment which help the time fly as she works at her cleaning chores. A confessed "people pleaser", she has really enjoys restoring order and freshness to her clients homes. She started her business in 1995 and enjoys sharing her expertise with nine long time clients.
In her spare time, Karen loves to paint. Not pictures or craft projects, but walls and ceilings, often choosing her favorite color green. Her family knows that she is the "go to" person, if they need help with a home improvement project. tester, her husband, enjoys a one of a kind "Chiefs Room" resplendent in red, gold and white. One of her all time favorite Christmas gifts is the miter saw she received from Lester.
Karen, the youngest child and only girl in her family, grew up in the Current River area of Missouri. In 1986 she and her husband Lester moved to this area. Soon she gained employment with the Country Kitchen restaurant and began working there as a waitress. The Long's have made Country Kitchen a family affair. Her husband Lester, started his career with the restaurant chain by working as a cook. He continued to progress through all stages of the business, achieving a management position and now is the owner of the restaurant. Once again during National Library Week, Lester has offered a special promotion to the public. Anyone presenting a library card will be given a generous 10 discount on their meal.
Collecting best seller books and reading Kay Scarpetta, Alex Cross and Women's Murder Club stories helps Karen to relax. Reading is like breathing to Karen. She states "I can't imagine life without the library. I love this library." Karen likes to create and travel in her spare time. She credits her husband with "making her life easy, by letting me be who I want to be."
