1891
- Australian ballot extended to areas under 5,000 population.
- Bond issue approved for $50,000 for building a new courthouse
- Boiler explosion at Churchill & Owsley"s mill at Windsor kills 4 persons.
- January 27: Missouri Daughters of the Confederacy organized.
- June: The new hotel is opened at the Artesian Well. The wooden building was 3 stories tall, with basement and cost about $20,000 when built. First floor had lobby that was 100 x 30 feet, private dining room, public dining room, butler's pantry, kitchen and number of bedrooms, 2nd and 3rd floors had 40 rooms. The dining room could seat 200 persons at a time.
- June 3-6: First races held at the new horse race track in the Artesian Park, located west of Town Creek.
- July: White Swam Flour Mill begins operation in Clinton, on the north side of Allen Street, just east of the MK&T tracks.

1892
- January 4: Clinton City Council holds its first session in the new Clinton City Hall.
- January 9: Academic Hall at University of Missouri burned. The Citizens of Clinton pledged to raise $100,000 if the University be moved to Clinton. The battle over removal in the State Legislature was a tough one. At first it seemed that Clinton had a good chance of getting the University, then Sedalia, Independence and other towns put in claims. Columbia raised a large bonus, and the Katy Railroad started work on a branch line to serve Columbia, and in the end the legislature chose to leave the University where it was, in Columbia.
- February: Contract signed for construction of a new courthouse with S. J. Hyde Company, calling for completion by May 4, 1893 at cost of $47,221. Architectural work done by Gumm and Curtis; H. H. Dix was the sone cutter and H. J. Kratz superintendent of construction. Building is basement and three floors, 96 x 72 feet, plus a tower.
- May: MK&T completes new train depot at Windsor.
- June 24: Cornerstone laid for the new Henry County courthouse in Clinton, with great ceremony.

1893
- Smith Business College founded.
- March: W. S. Dickey Clay buys the "Block Factory", which becomes Dickey plant #2 at Deepwater.
- July 1: The new Henry County Courthouse is officialy opened, at a cost of $47,221.
- October 19: Missouri & Kansas Telephone Company, a subsidiary of the Bell Telephone System, opens a telephone system in Clinton.

1894
- January 13: Henry Hunter grain elevator at Clinton, located near the MK&T depot, is destroyed by fire.

1895
- Smith Business College is renamed the Clinton Normal Business College and becomes fully accredited.
- The Clinton Academy closed.
- March 16: The Missouri Kansas & Texas RR begins operating trains into St. Louis on its own rails. Previosuly access to St. Louis was via the connection with the Missouri Pacific at Sedalia.

1896
- September 12: Fire burns the Blair Line trestle over Town Creek north of Clinton. Engine number 4 couldn't stop on the slick track and went down on the burning trestle, killing two men.
- December 4: The Henry County Bank at Clinton fails.

1897
- The Blair Line (Kansas City Osceola & Southern Railroad) replaces the "Long Trestle" north of town with a fill and a short bridge over the creek.

1898
- Baird College closed on completion of the 1897-98 term.
- State Historical Society of Missouri formed.
- April 25: Spanish-American war starts.
- May: Nearly 3,000 persons gathered at the Katy Depot in Clinton to see off the Henry County contingent of the National Guard, Company F of the 2nd Missouri Regiment, on its way to Jefferson Barracks near St. Louis.
- June 27: New Dickey plant formally opened, with excursion train from Kansas City.
- September 1: The Kansas City Osceola & Southern RR ("The Blair Line") completes its extension from Osceola to Bolivar, under an arrangement with the St. Louis & San Francisco RR ("Frisco"). This opens a new through route from Kansas City to Springfield via Clinton. The Frisco and Blair Line begin operating through sleeping cars over the route from Kansas City to Texas.
- December 10: Spanish-American War ends.

- March: The Bank of Montrose fails.
- March: Missouri Union Telephone Company is formed with headquarters at Windsor, Missouri.
- December 15: Missouri Union Telephone Company opens a telephone exchange at Clinton, competing with the Missouri & Kansas Telephone Company, the local Bell system company.
