1980
- The Britts House, corner of 2nd and Franklin, is torn down and replaced by a convenience store.
- August: Bathhouse for the old American Legion Swimming Pool in Artesian Park is demolished.

1981
- Truman Lake Mall is opened on the southeast portion of the East Junction of Highways 7, 13, 18 and 52. The primary initial tenant is Walmart, replacing their original store at the Eastgate Center. (J. C. Penney later moved from the Square to occupy part of the old Walmart store building and Golden Valley Country Market evenetually occupied the rest.)
- March 22: The new Clinton Masonic Temple, on East Ohio Street, is dedicated.

1982
- Old Clinton Masonic Temple building is torn down.

1983
- A windstorm knocks over the 52 Drive-in movie screen, and the theater is closed.
- Deepwater votes to purchase water from the Henry County Rural Water District.
- Deepwater grade school (known as Lakeland North) is closed, with all elementary students now being bussed to Lakeland South, the former Lowry City school.
- November: Henry County Water Comapany takes over the former Missouri Public Service water operations in Clinton.

1984
- The new Holiday Inn motel opens on Rives Road in Clinton.

1985
- Cedarwood Shopping Center is opened, on the north side of Ohio street (Highway 7), north of Truman Lake Mall.
- Deepwater Boat Ramp is opened.
- Henry County Rural Water District #2 begins supplying Deepwater, Brownington, Montrose and Appleton City.
- December 31: Tracker Marine, a division of the Bass Pro organization, signs a contract to build a fiberglass boat factory in Clinton.
