Rule 36. SETTING CASES FOR TRIAL
Cases that are at issue may be set for trial by noticed motion, at the docket call for any term of court, or by the Court on its own motion.
It is the responsibility of each attorney or a party without an attorney to attend docket call and know when his case is set, and to be ready for trial.
Cases set for a particular day or a particular trial week must be prepared for trial at the time; and, if reached for trial, must be tried, settled, dismissed, or continued to a future date certain as ordered by the Court.
On the date a case is set for trial or the first day of a trial week, cases will be called in order on the particular day set by the Court, and tried, settled, dismissed, or continued to a future date certain as ordered by the Court.
Any request for a continuance must be in writing, and state all grounds for the same.
The Court may reorder the numerical position of a case set for trial or the trial date for efficient administration of the business of the Court.
Docket call shall be on the first day of each term of Court. See Rule 2.2(1). The docket of the Circuit Division shall be called at that time.
